The voice command is "navigation announcements on/off". When on the navigation screen, press the voice command button on the steering wheel and available commands are shown on the screen. Problem with the turning the volume down is that you need to wait for an announcement and even then you can't turn it off fully. I've just seen this thread after I posted about my Sat Nav crashing. Basically my Sat Nav has crashed and has frozen on the position it was in at that time. I've tried turning it off and back on again, but it's still not working. However, I did get the 'SOS Emergency call restricted. Workshop!' message in the maxi dot display after that. The internal touch sensitive controls (not the buttons down the sides) for the Radio, Sat Nav and media etc occasionally do not work. I.e. the screen freezes until I press and hold the on/off button which seems to clear things by re-booting the whole system . Yes, you need an MY16 or above to utilise Android Auto or Apple Carplay. This can be enabled on a Bolaro/Amunsden or Columbus unit of your era. You also need an 'App' button on your system to make this work. It will cost you about 120ukp for a Software License code from your dealer. I have the Octavia iv plug in. I have used both keys and become the primary driver. Ive had the car 1wk. Ive notice the system does not save any settings. Ie. Home address on sat nav. Comprehensive or Brief on sat nat. Road signs on or off. Sat nat favourites or last destination. The Kenwood won't fit.
